Weston Pro 2300 Vacuum Sealer Review

A vacuum sealer can do wonders to save your leftover food from being spoiled. If you want to increase the shelf life of your frozen or dry food items, removing oxygen from them becomes key. Yes, you read it right, “oxygen”. Funnily enough, the gas that gives you life, reduces the shelf life of your food. That’s where a vacuum sealer comes in handy. It helps by removing all the air from the food packaging.
There are a variety of vacuum sealers available in the market, ranging from small portable ones to the large commercial grade ones. But what if you want the best of both worlds? The Weston Pro 2300 Vacuum Sealer provides exactly that. It gives the performance of a commercial vacuum sealer without having a large profile of one. As per many users, it is fairly easy to use, versatile and durable. But does it lack in any place? And most importantly, is it worth your bucks? We have given answers to all those questions and more in our Weston Pro 2300 review.

1. Design

The Weston Pro 2300 Vacuum Sealer has a sturdy body courtesy of commercial-grade stainless steel. At first glance, it looks very clean and professional. But it is also extremely robust and durable. What’s noticeable is that the lid of this vacuum sealer is made of clear acrylic. This helps to see the bags clearly while positioning them. This just adds to the ease of usage.
The vacuum sealer has LED indicators at the top to signal the power and show what cycle it is in – the vacuum cycle, the sealing cycle, or the cooldown. Another design feature that impressed us is the detachable power cord. It might be a minor thing, but it makes it fairly convenient to handle and store.
As a safety measure, the Pro 2300 has a thermal overload switch. This turns it off to protect it from damage if the machine overheats
2. Size and Portability
At 15.3 x 23 x 9 inches and 22 pounds, the Weston Pro 2300 is larger and heavier than your average home vacuum sealer unit. But if you look at what it offers, you would instead find it to be much smaller than the large chambered industrial vacuum sealer machines. The Pro 2300 offers much more efficiency when compared to most of the smaller vacuum sealers, which makes its rather large profile worth every bit.
As we mentioned above, the detachable power cord also adds to the ease of storage. Despite being on the large and heavy side, the Weston Pro 2300 is still fairly portable and easy to store.
3. Power
This is where the Pro 2300 Vacuum Sealer outdoes all its competition. Equipped with a 935-watt motor and a double-piston vacuum pump, the Weston Pro 2300 can generate a suction up to 28” Hg. While that may be about 5% shy of a perfectly efficient vacuum, it is significantly good when you notice that it is a non-chambered machine. Vacuum sealers that come close to achieving absolute vacuum are mostly the large chambered ones. The VacMaster VP 215 and its upgraded version, the VacMaster VP320 are a worthy chamber sealer that we can totally recommend you based on our thorough review.
The motor in this powerful vacuum sealer comes with a cooling fan. This enables you to seal more bags quickly without worrying about overheating. The Pro 2300 vacuum sealer also has a 120-volt, 60 Hz power rating.
4. Versatility

Thanks to its long seal bar, the Weston Pro 2300 can seal a variety of bag sizes. The 15-inch long seal bar is one of the longest when you compare various other models of the same segment. So, if you want to seal larger cuts of meat like brisket, bacon, or ham, the Pro 2300 allows you to do that. That is something you could not do with smaller units, as the bags that fit them cannot hold sizable portions of food.
You can seal bags up to 15 inches wide easily with this machine. Since this is a non-chambered vacuum sealer, you must use full mesh vacuum pouches that have a textured interior. But if you’re looking to seal canisters and jars, then it is not the right choice for you. The Pro 2300 vacuum sealer can only seal bags, but not jars or canisters of any kind. As far as soft and moist foods are concerned, the sealer still does a pretty good job. The manual mode (discussed ahead) enables you to adjust the vacuum pressure corresponding to the type of food being sealed. For moist foods and liquids, however you might first want to freeze it and then seal it using this edge sealer.
5. Manual seal mode
Another feature that sets the Weston Pro 2300 apart from its competition is the manual seal mode. Apart from having the standard automatic mode to vacuum seal bags, it also features a manual mode. Users can use this to seal their pouches while having full control over how much vacuum it creates in them. Normally, a heat sealer creates a vacuum as per its full capacity. But with the manual mode available in the Pro 2300 Vacuum Sealer, you can create as much vacuum you want.
This feature is very useful when you do not want a full vacuum in the pouch. And among other vacuum sealers in this price range, the Weston Pro 2300 vacuum sealer is the only one to have it. Some affordable option that we’ve reviewed earlier including the Seal-A-Meal Vacuum Sealer, the Nesco VS-02, the FoodSaver V2244, all lack the vacuum pressure adjustability and may crush soft foods while sucking out the air off the sealing bag.
6. Warranty
Weston Brands LLC. is a well-known name when it comes to household appliances. The brand is known to have a wide range of products ranging from juicers and blenders to meat grinders, from burger presses to pasta machines, from roaster ovens to vacuum sealers, and so much more! Products from the company have received positive responses from countless customers so far, and that count is increasing as you read this. Customer support and warranty is a similar case. The company is dedicated towards providing all the necessary support to the users for the 1-year standard warranty.
Verdict – Is the Weston Pro 2300 worth the price?
In short, YES. The Weston 2300 Pro Vacuum Sealer is an absolute beast. Its double-piston pump provides a near commercial-grade performance while the cooling fan keeps the motor at bay from overheating. The overall design is sturdy and is built to last. It has got a remarkable 15-inch long seal bar that allows you to seal large bags with ease. Also, it is relatively quiet and quite portable for its size.
While it is not cheaply priced at $400, it provides great value for that price. Any other options would be lower in price, but would be much lower in performance. Hence, it would not be wrong to say with conviction that the Weston Pro 2300 is worth the price.
