This air purifier model from IQAir’s kitty falls in the top-end, high price-range category. The product has so far proudly earned 6 consecutive awards in its name for being the most powerful air purifier providing flawless air purification. Let’s look at each of its aspects individually to see whether it truly deserves this honour.
As mentioned earlier, the product is one of the high-end models and therefore starts at $899. It is definitely cheaper than the other flagship product of the brand – IQAir GC MultiGas, costing only 2/3rd of the latter’s price. Yet, IQAir HealthPro Plus is still at least costlier by at least $150-$200 in comparison to its other counterparts in the high-range air purifier market. Examples include Blueair Classic 605, AlenBreatheSmart 75i, and AIRMEGA 400S.
That said, IQAir HealthPro Plus is total value for money even at this price. This is because it is the company’s best product destined to provide 100% air purification for better health. Plus, it’s a perfect combination of both excellent power and impeccable design. The product is fitted with several premium-category components and promises to deliver a novel experience from its predecessors, which makes it well worth a buy at $900.
2. Design & Size
IQAir’s website claims that this product has been designed to hold the future in air purification. As such, it’s been so designed to achieve this objective. The company has introduced a unique smart design through this product – a 28” air purifier which is curved at the base to lend a compact look. This design indeed brings an air of freshness in the market. The body of the product is made entirely of stainless steel. There is an optional set of 4 wheels too to make the device portable.
All the materials used are Swiss-made which guarantees a promise of top quality and long life. The key feature of its design is the 3D Ultra Seal Technology that traps the air within the purifier and prevents it from escaping out until it has passed through the 3 stages of manufacturing process for purification. This is how this technology works:
Stage 1 – The technology guarantees that the filter media of the air purifier is sealed up 100% in the filter frame.
Stage 2 – The technology also ensures absolute sealing between the filter frame and housing.
Stage 3 – Every unit has a separate airtight housing.
There is a large air vent at the base of the purifier which draws in air contaminated with pollutants. This air then passes through a chain of air filters and gets released from the 320 Degree air outlet situated at the top of the device. This is how bottom-to-top air flow is ensured via the EvenFlow Diffuser Technology wherein the filtered air gets distributed evenly in all directions of the room. Note that currently no other air purifier in the market uses the same outlet air delivery as offered by IQAir.
The air purifier also comes with a 4-key touchpad with an LCD display. The device also includes a signature locking arm at its front and back. This arm is equipped with 3D Ultra Seal technology that completely seals the device. You can choose from light grey or white shades for the locking arm. Also, it may be useful to mention here that this particular model also has a limited edition stock in the form of IQAir Klaus Series. It’s more appealing look-wise – handcrafted with Pistachio wood panels and intricate accentuations that lend it an almost designer look.
Speaking of size, this model is powerful enough to cover both a large and extra-large room space. Weighing 35lbs, it’s relatively lighter by 10lbs than IQAir GC MultiGasl; however, if you still find it heavy to move around, there are 4 caster wheels included in the package.
3. Filters & Stages
The air filtration process used in IQAir high-end models is totally unbeatable by any other similar model in a similar category. This particular model comes with the following air filters for 100% purification process:
- PreMax filter – This is a pre-filter that works at reducing majority of the large pollutants in order to protect the subsequent filters from damage. It has a proven efficiency of 55% at trapping pollutants as small as 0.3 microns.
- Granulated Activated Carbon filter – This one works at removing Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), smoke, bad smells, and other harmful chemicals from the air.
- Pelletised Chemisorption – This is an add-on filter to the previous one in order to further eliminate harmful chemicals like Formaldehyde.
- HyperHEPA filter – This is the top True HEPA filter with the ability to remove not just fine but ultra-fine polluting particles present in the air. Examples include bacteria, viruses, and combustion particles.
This filter has the efficiency to trap 99.97% of smaller than 0.3 microns particles in the air and 95% efficiency in capturing down to 0.003 microns of airborne pollutants. However, this powerful efficiency is possible only in a surface area of 54 sq. ft. around the air purifier.
This 4-stage air purification process makes use of only mechanical filters without emitting ozone or ions into the indoor air. The latter can cause respiratory problems like asthma. For this reason, IQAir HealthPro Plus has been rated “#1 room air purifier for allergies & asthma”. To put this claim to test, the model was allowed to run consecutively for an hour in a room area of 500 sq. ft. This model was placed alongside Blueair Pro L, Coway Air Mega 400S, Levoit Air Purifiers & AlenBreathe Smart Classic Air Purifier for the test.
While all of these high-range air purifiers displayed the highest efficiency, with Blueair Pro L being able to capture 99.99% of air pollutants, Airpura UV600 and IQAir HealthPro Plus stood equal with 99.98% efficiency in capturing as small as 0.3 microns.
4. Room Coverage
IQAir HealthPro Plus has been designed to cover extra-large room spaces, providing a coverage area of comfortably 1125 sq. ft. IQAir is one of our top picks for best large room air purifiers. Besides, the device has an ACH (Air Changes per Hour) rating of 5X, which is just perfect. The air purifier can clean air in your room every 12 minutes. Speaking of CADR rating, this model has one of 300 cfm overall. Also, the device is equipped with a New Edition fan which can circulate up to 41% more clean air in the room.
Compare its room coverage with that of its competition, you’d find Austin Air Bedroom Machine can cover 1500 sq. ft., while Airpura UV600 has a maximum coverage area of 2000 sq. ft. Also, both these competitor models fall in the same price range as IQAir. It could be said then that at this price, IQAir could perhaps offer a better room coverage.
IQAir HealthPro Plus is one of the silent performers you’d find in this market. Where air purifiers with high fan power generally produce a lot of sound, this one is fairly silent, owing to the aerodynamics fan design and 8 shock absorbers. At the lowest setting, this model with 6 fan speeds was found to run 22 decibels of sound, which could be compared to the sound of a whisper or rustling leaves!
At the highest setting too, IQAir has been found to produce a sound level of only 57 decibels, which is quite impressive for a large room air purifier. Its noise level stands at par with another leading air purifier in this category – Rabbit Air MinusA2.
6. Power Consumption
Currently, the model stands as one of the best energy-saving devices in this market when you do an IQAir HealthPro review. So you wouldn’t need to worry about your air purifier using up high amounts of energy. At the lowest setting, the model uses only 20 watts of energy (only 1 watt on standby mode). At the highest setting, however, it uses up to 135 watts. On an average, the power consumption of this model has been recorded at 70 watts. This means that if you use IQAir HealthPro Plus for 8 hours a day, it’d cost you somewhere between $7-$48 per annum, depending of course on which setting it’s run the maximum.
7. Additional features in the air purifier
Though IQAir HealthPro Plus comes in the high-end category of air purifiers, it does have some essential features missing, which are usually found in a top-end model. One example is the Smart Sensor, a popular feature in modern-day air purifiers that comes with the ability to automatically adjust the speed of the fan depending on the quality of air in the room.
Apart from this, IQAir is equipped with other common functions such as the personal remote control which helps control the functioning of the device. There is also an Advanced Timer option that helps program the hours and days of operation for the device. There is also an option for Advanced Fan Speed which allows the user to set a fixed fan speed for a specified time period. In addition, the LED filter replacement indicator lets you know when it’s time to replace the device’s air filters.
8. Customer reviews & service
The model, since its launch, has earned several commendable reviews from satisfied customers who have purchased and used this device. IQAir anyway enjoys a high repute in the air purifier market since the last 50 years of its existence. The brand has received numerous awards and accolades by several reputable organisations and even in the press.
Part of this feat could be attributed to the exceptional customer service the company provides in and around US. Its customer support team works round the clock and is always accessible on email. Besides the customer service, the product warranty offered on this air purifier also makes it a high preferred choice in the consumer market. Like all of its other products, this offering from IQAir also comes with a minimum 5-year warranty period.
Should you buy IQAir HealthPro Plus Air Purifier?
At the end of the IQAir HealthProPlus air purifier review, we can say that the Hyper-HEPA filter and the 4-stage elaborate air filtration process of this model make it totally unbeatable in this category. Not to forget, the air purifier comes with the reputable title of being the no. 1 rated in protection against asthma. Of course, the price range for the product does seem a little higher compared to other high-end models in this market. This is particularly true when you compare the room coverage offered by this brand with that of the others.
However, its filtration process still makes IQAir stand out of the crowds. Only if it could bring the price tag a little lower, perhaps it’d be impossible to beat the brand in this market at any time.
