GE Profile PEB9159SJSS is an upgrade to an older version of GE profile microwave oven and has quickly become one of the top-rated ones among their entire range. Almost all GE profile microwave reviews have it ranked into the top three. It does come with a convection mode so you can get that perfect golden-brown result with an even heat distribution around the convection rack. It fares pretty well against other top convection microwaves priced in this range.

The microwave has a large capacity of 1.5 cu. ft. with a low 13in height profile which makes it easy to fit under upper cabinets. It has a fairly intuitive touchpad with a well laid out button panel and various modes for different types of food. Besides that, the microwave is designed with multiple sensor cooking controls which make it more economical by automatically regulating cooking time and power settings depending upon what’s inside.

There are a couple of things that we’d like to mention. Although the microwave and convection functions are very powerful, it requires a lot of unnecessary button presses if you want to use some of the programming options. The microwave also has time increments of 15-second intervals, which we’d wish had been 10-second instead. It’s also not the quietest microwave out there, but that’s not an issue in regular usage. Apart from the minor quirks, we think this is the most versatile and feature-rich GE convection microwave.

There’s nothing better than finding a high-quality product on the low-end of your budget. The GE JES1095SMSS is an inexpensive countertop model with all the up-to-date technologies and a robust stainless steel design. It has a 0.9 Cu. Ft. capacity which is reasonable but not the most you can find on a countertop microwave, but the small size does give it a nice look if you are looking for that.

This GE countertop microwave comes with auto and timed defrost features that allow you to quickly melt the ice particles on your foods that just came out of the freezer. The door on this one seems to be a bit jerky and it makes a slight noise when closing, which is one of the corner cuts they have to make at this price. The turntable also seems to shake a little in its place, but these design compromises are far outweighed by the cooking performance.

The microwave has a lot of functions for a wide variety of cooking, reheating and defrosting tasks. To be honest, this one could be a really decent choice among other under $100 microwaves. However, there is no lighting on the control panel, which makes reading the numbers and controlling levels difficult in dimly lit conditions. You have to keep this in mind as it makes it aggravating to operate without turning on more lighting, and that will definitely add to your electricity bill.

This GE microwave countertop microwave is very similar to the JES1095SMSS, except that it’s smaller with a tad lesser number of features. It’s also the least expensive among the test models for our GE microwave reviews. We’re looking at a 0.7 cu. ft. internal capacity and a 10.12in height, making it extremely convenient to place anywhere in your kitchen or mount it under cabinets with less clearance.

It comes with auto and time defrost that you can set to be programmed automatically or manually for optimal results. We also found the cooking control panel to be responsive enough but unfortunately, it doesn’t come with lighting. It has the cooking complete sound reminder which can be turned off with a single button press.

We think this is the ideal microwave for people who are short on space or are simply looking for a smaller footprint. It is priced very competitively and with 700-watts of power, is perfect for light tasks like reheating, popcorn, beverages and auto defrost. Also, this microwave doesn’t come with a hanging bracket and you will have to buy that separately if you want to mount it under the cabinet.

The GE Profile PEM31SFSS comes at a larger size with a 12⅛” height and 24” width. This does mean that you get a large 1.1 Cu. Ft. capacity with more than 12” depth to use the microwave with large plates. It’s built-in capable with the trim-kit being sold separately. The matching trim-kit looks elegant but the size of this microwave is changed from previous models, so you won’t be able to use your old trim-kit with this one.

This GE countertop microwave boasts a weight and time defrost which optimally sets the desired time and power based on the weight entered. It also has sensor cooking controls which work great, however, are not supported with some types of foods and beverages. We would have liked to see more than just 800-watts on this one though, but on the positive side, it’s relatively quiet.

Just a heads-up, some customers have reported that the interior paint has started to peel off after a few years of use, and you will find more than just a few complaints about the same online. Despite the brilliant cooking performance and a nice list of features, there is a set of questions posed upon this product concerning the build quality and design choices.

If you don’t want countertop microwaves to eat up valuable space in your kitchen, the GE PVM9005SJSS over-the-range microwave hood might be perfect for you. It’s a powerful 400CFM vent, so you don’t have to worry about it not being as effective as a dedicated range-hood. It also is fairly large with a 2.1 Cu. Ft. total capacity and a 23” width. This GE over-the-range microwave looks sleek and has plenty of power with a 1050-watt rating.

The company tells you that you need 30” cabinet clearance to install it. What they don’t mention is that you will also need to have a 1” clearance on the left for the door to open. Once you set it up, it’s fairly easy to use, program and clean after you’ve finished. The microwave also has plenty of sensor cooking options placed at the bottom so you’ll have no problem reaching them.

We already mentioned that the 400CFM vent is sufficient for most homes, we would like to add that it’s a four-speed fan control and GE provides the charcoal filter kit with the product. It has LED indicators for when the charcoal filter needs to be replaced. Besides that, it includes a three-way cooktop lighting with bright and night lighting modes. Overall, although not comparable to the GE’s advantium line of ovens, this is still a solid product if you’re looking for an over-the-range microwave that doesn’t compromise on the venting.
