This is the best microwave and oven combo, in our opinion, for those who are on a tight budget. If you’re a home chef who wants to upgrade their kitchen while staying frugal, this is a fantastic option.

Further down the list, you’ll find microwave wall oven combos that cost more and have more features, but we’re confident that this Black Stainless Frigidaire model outperforms its price point. The elegant appearance of this combo won’t tip off any visitors to the fact that you saved a bundle buying it.

Performance-wise, you’ll find that both the microwave and the oven deliver exceptional results. From TV dinners to festive roasts to superior cakes and pies, there’s a lot you can do with this little beauty. None of our testers were disappointed at all with its essential functions.

The 27-inch configuration of the upper microwave provides a generous cooking area. Besides, We were able to roast turkeys up to 25 lbs. in the lower oven with great success. The lower oven is far larger than even the most extravagant events require. The 27″ combo unit comes in a black stainless finish as well.

There are a fair number of “smart” add-ons, that place this model above every other model in its price range. It fits cozily in a 27-inch cutout if you already have one (Cutout dimensions: 28-1/2″ – 29″ x 41-1/8″ – 41-1/4″ x 23-3/4″).

If you’re trying to choose between a single wall oven and a double wall oven, you might want to consider a combination like the GE Profile. By combining a convection microwave with a double-walled convection oven, you get the best of both worlds.

The convection microwave oven combo is ideal for small and frequent meals, while the convection oven does the heavy lifting for full-fledged family-sized dinners. Essentially, you are getting a double oven with microwave combination. You get the advantages of having two ovens and a bonus microwave!

This model caught our eye because of its very desirable features. This one is sleek and stylish, but it’s not all about looks. If you’re set on smart features, this oven combo might be the answer to your prayers.

Speaking of style, if you are picky about the appearance of your kitchen, you’ll be thrilled to know that this model comes in four different outer finishes, including slate, white, stainless steel and black.

  • Capacity: 1.7 cubic feet
  • Convection upper oven: Convection feature allows heat to circulate evenly, eliminating inconsistent temperatures
  • Installation height: Eye-level installation will enable you to monitor your dishes easily
  • Space-saving: Most convection microwaves are for the countertop. Save some space with this model!

I can confidently vote on every sane person’s behalf that they’d choose a convection oven over a traditional oven if they could only have one. Heating elements like in a conventional oven paired with fans make for the most amazing baking, roasting and broiling results.

  • Performance: Consistent, reliable performance
  • Capacity: 5.0 cubic feet capacity for the most abundant dishes

Besides the convection fans, there are a few more intelligent features in the lower oven that caught our eye. Firstly, the lower oven cavity is illuminated by two halogen lights. So, visibility issues are out of the way! Secondly, the oven self-cleans. This implies, all the greased roller racks need no scrubbing. The steam clean option does the job fairly effectively.

If you like this model, but you’re looking for something slightly smaller, there’s also a 27-inch configuration (PK7800SKSS) with a somewhat smaller lower oven capacity. Both variants are an excellent addition to any kitchen—choose the one that’s right for you.

Overall Rating:
4.9/5
  1. Depth: 23-1/2″
  2. Height: 42-1/4″
  3. Width: 28-5/8″
  • Guaranteed perfect fit in an existing 30 inch cutout
  • Advantium (upper oven) gives oven-quality results two-to four times faster than a conventional oven

  • Self-clean roller (lower oven) rack make for easy handling of heavy roasts
  • Adequate illumination in both ovens
  • 10-pass bake element, 8-pass broil element (lower oven)
  • Limited 1-year warranty (parts and labor included)

GE Appliances are increasingly getting popular, and for all valid reasons. Every GE wall oven microwave combo is designed with the perfect blend of appealing aesthetics and incredible functionality. The modern look of the Café series is an excellent example of this.

Sophisticated style paired with extra cooking features are GE’s hallmark, and they’re perfectly realized in the CT9800SHSS. It blends into any style of kitchen décor with grace without sacrificing the cutting-edge technological innovations that GE has become known for.

This combo is probably my favorite model for personal use. The upper convection microwave is one of the best ways to replicate conventional oven results—but at two to four times faster!

You can do it all with this model: broil, convection cook, microwave, and speedcook—all in the upper oven. And that’s without even considering the extra capacity and options provided by the lower oven.

Whether you have an existing 27-inch cutout, or a 30 inch feels like too much for your kitchen, we’ve got the perfect option. During our tests, this model has performed the best in 27-inch wall oven and microwave combo reviews category.

It’s beautiful, it works flawlessly, and it’s a great value considering the features it includes. You’d be hard-pressed to find another 27-inch model that is better suited for your needs.

This model resembles our earlier GE pick, but it does have a very different set of features. In this combo set, the lower oven is a traditional oven without the convection feature. (Compare conventional ovens with convection ovens here). That might make this a less attractive choice for some chefs, but the smaller size and reduced features are reflected in the price, so it’s still a great deal.

Many home chefs and their families swear by the Bosch brand, so we’d be remiss not to include one of their excellent combos in our list. The brand is known for its uncompromising pursuit of quality and sophistication, earning it a place not only in the kitchens and hearts of America but across a wide variety of competitive online retail platforms. This quality means you can often get a great deal on Bosch products. The staggering numbers of positive online reviews for this model speak for themselves, but naturally, we had our team test it as well. This model is arguably one of the most reliable 30-inch models we tested. It has a bit more of a minimalistic look than other brands, which many of today’s modern cooks favor for their kitchen décor. We love the simple glazed outer finish, but not as much as we love the fact that the lower oven features Genuine European Convection! What blew us completely away is the fact that it comes with smart Wi-Fi connectivity while still being almost the same price as that of its predecessor model, the HBL8752UC.

While the upper convection microwave offers an added 1.5 cu. ft. of oven space besides handling frequent microwave cooking requirements. A1 functionality for a large appliance, hands down.

Jenn-Air is a highly trusted Whirlpool subsidiary with sleek and modern kitchen appliances as their top attribute. Jenn-Air has always been about practical innovations in the kitchen appliance industry from the very beginning. The brand introduced the first ever downdraft cooktop back in 1961, and is also known for introducing the power of convection cooking into the kitchen. So, knowing that they initiated the glorious trend of convection aided cooking, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say the brand is a master in its craft.

So how does this particular model stand out among others? There are multiple reasons. The set is approved for flush installation. Which means it installs along the lines of kitchen giving it a clean, seamless appearance. The lower oven is equipped with a third heating element beside the powerful convection fan in addition to the bake and broil elements. This assembly is popularly known as a “true convection” feature. The convection fan here doesn’t just disperse the already heated air inside the oven cavity, it adds radiant heat form the third element to reduce preheating times and yield consistent bake, broil and roast results.

The upper microwave sports a convection feature that enables it to be used as a secondary oven when needed. The control panel, further is highly interactive with a 4.3-inch full-color LCD display. There’s a whole lot of flexibility this assembly provides, that too, on a comparatively lower cost. We’ve done a solid digging on the internet and present you the best deals on this model. With a contemporary design, true convection consistent cooking, meticulous temperature precision and shortened preheating times, the Maytag MMW9730FZ fiercely rivals our top picks. The whirlpool subsidiary is widely acclaimed for extremely reliable home appliances all across the states. The brand reinforces the idea yet again with this versatile model.

The lower oven is the primary crowd-pleaser in this oven and microwave combo assembly. To begin with, the oven features true convection cooking. What this essentially means is, the convection fan is coupled with a third heating element and hence it distributes heated air rather than simply circulating pre-heated air in the oven cavity. True convection is also often referred to as European convection and is more effective at even heating than regular convection and conventional ovens. A powerful third heating element aided with the convection fan translates to faster and more consistent roasting and baking results as compared to that of regular convection.

The oven further accompanies a much-celebrated power preheat feature that enables it to preheat in almost half the usual time. The oven employs the bake and broil elements alongside the third element and convection fan to preheat up to 350°C in 8 minutes! Now, if you’ve ever felt annoyed at the long preheating times of your previous oven or are simply dreaded by the thought of it, this one already has an edge.

The upper microwave fairly keeps up with the lower oven’s eminence. Approved for microwave cooking, defrosting and reheating, it complements the lower oven very well. So, what sets it apart? Sensor cooking it is for this one! The microwave displays smart sensor cooking that enables it to automatically adjust power and corresponding cooking times based on the humidity inside the cavity. According to recent statistics, Whirlpool was the most reliable household appliance brand across the states for the year 2019. The brand has continued to add unmatched value to domestic households at affordable prices. This wall oven and microwave combo is a prime example of why the brand is trusted by millions.

Sporting true convection feature in the lower oven, your cakes, cookies and roasts come out consistent and evenly cooked. The third heating element in conjunction with the convection fan distributes its own hot air and further forces the heat from the top and bottom element to cover all areas of the oven cavity.

The microwave compartment is adequately large at 1.4 cu. ft. It doesn’t, however have the convection feature. The microwave has a glass turntable and is approved for regular cooking selections like defrost, soften/melt, reheat and keep warm. The interior cavity has a halogen light bulb to account for enhanced visibility.

What’s so extraordinary about it? A fairly good oven with a regular microwave, is that it? No way would we recommend you something that barely keeps up with regular standards. The unit is equipped with WiFi connectivity and hence can be remotely controlled through the App. You can also opt to operate your oven with voice control through Amazon Alexa. Now, this sounds more like an update that will stay “in fashion” for years to come.

Why do you need a Wall Mounted (Built-In) Microwave Oven Combo?

In today’s world, space is all too often at a premium. Yet, living in smaller homes and apartments doesn’t mean that we have any less cooking to do! While many appliances help home chefs prepare small, delicious meals efficiently while conserving space, many of these options aren’t suitable when preparing food for a large group or celebration.

For example, countertop convection microwave ovens are a fantastic solution for singles and couples but can fall short for families or more significant occasions. No one wants the hassle of trying to prepare a full Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas lunch, or New Year’s Eve nosh using only a single countertop appliance. That’s not to say that it can’t be done, but it’s certainly not efficient, and it creates tremendous stress for the host or hostess! Other functional options for a small family with a constrict kitchen could be getting a built-in microwave or a microwave drawer.

That’s why a wall-mounted (built-in) oven and microwave combo is a lifesaver if you want to conserve space in your kitchen without sacrificing the ability to prepare full meals. Larger cooking capacities combined with the obvious fact that you also have two appliances in one takes a huge burden off the cook. As a bonus, you’ll also be freeing up that counter space for other appliances or food preparation.

If you feel like a wall-mounted microwave and oven combination is your best bet, we urge you not to run right out to your nearest brick and mortar to buy one. Why? For one thing, you won’t have nearly the variety of models to choose from, compared to shopping online. There might be a combo that’s perfect for your kitchen, but because these appliances aren’t carried by as many retail outlets, you wouldn’t find it without a bit of online research.

Another reason to research online is the price. Not only do brick and mortar shops have a larger mark-up, to begin with, but they’re also simply not as competitive with one another as online retail platforms are.

That’s why we’ve compiled this list of the five best convection wall oven and microwave combo sets for a variety of different needs. We’ve prepared this list based on how cost effective each model is, their most appealing features, the reliability of the brands, and consumer reviews. You might not find your perfect combo here—although we hope you do—but this list will certainly give you an excellent idea of what’s available, the price ranges, and what sort of features you can expect to find. Either way, you’ll be starting your research into finding the right appliance for your kitchen in a well-informed manner.

If you’ve decided that a microwave and oven combo set isn’t quite right for you, you can also check out our helpful guides on the best single and double wall ovens. They’re just as concise and thorough as this guide.

  2. Hello! Nice article. Like Damaries we are also replacing an older 30″ Kitchenaid wall combo and as we’re shopping we’re paying attention to the electrical requirements. Our old Kitchenaid is 2 separate units, the microwave has a dedicated 20amp breaker and the oven has its own 30amp. Now as we shop it seems like some of these combos are in reality one unit, not two. We don’t want to have to rewire for the new equipment. Any thoughts or guidance would be appreciated.

    • Hi John, We appreciate your nice words!
About your query, you’re right that wall oven microwave combos are in fact, one unit and have a single power cord. If either of your power outlets don’t comply with the requirements of the combo unit; you’d invariably have to modify the wiring. Or, you could simply assemble a microwave and an oven just like the your previous setup.

  3. Hello,

We are replacing our 18 year old kitchenaid superba wall microwave/oven combo. I currently have both top and bottom convection options. We have a home appliance warranty so they are offering us a replacement with the GE PT7800SHSS. However, we are considering taking the cash and going with another Kitchenaid. What are your recommendations? I want quality and something with longevity. Thank you in advance for your help.

    • Hi Nicole,
I’m so glad you stopped by! A Microwave/oven combo, in my opinion is a more resourceful assembly than a double oven. Despite high baking needs, double ovens are almost always underutilized. Of course, with the exception of holidays. Being an avid baker myself, i can assure you a 30″ convection microwave/oven combo easily handles my baking needs. If i were to recommend, the GE Advantium and Jenn-air JMW2430DS are my personal favorites.

  4. My brother is renovating his kitchen and would like to buy new appliances to match the quality of his countertops and flooring. Your information that the Frigidaire oven and microwave combination has an elegant design and a touchscreen that works really well is interesting. I’ll suggest that he look into buying one of these combinations for his home.
